Dead Lock and Freeze Frame 2016 are
mystery/thriller novels set in
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Detroit.
“Both of these novels feature strong female characters,”
says author B. David Warner. “Dead Lock’s main character is Kate
Brennan. She’s a 21st Century woman who happens to live in the
1940s. She ‘s a tough cookie who drinks Pfeiffer beer and smokes a pack of
Chesterfield cigarettes a day.”
The heroine of Freeze Frame 2016 is also a strong female character,
Warner says. “Darcy James is an ad executive by vocation,” Warner says, “But
her hobby is racing sports cars.”
Warner’s web site, http://www.bdavidwarner.com
has more information on the mystery/thriller novels set in Michigan, including
the first few chapters of each book.
DeadLock takes place in Sault Ste. Marie, a small town in Northern Michigan
that could have been a big target during WWII. “Nearly ninety percent of the
iron ore used by our defense plants had to go through the Soo Locks there,”
Warner says. “Their safety was taken so seriously that nearly 7,500 troops were
stationed there to guard the looks.”
Detroit Times reporter Kate Brennan travels to the
Soo to work for her uncle’s newspaper, according to Warner. While investigating
the murder of a close friend, she runs headlong into a Nazi plot to destroy the
locks.
Freeze
Frame 2016 is set in modern day Detroit. Ad executive Darcy James
discovers the dark secret behind a candidate who has a big lead in the U.S.
presidential race. She and her love interest, Sean Higgins, are the only one’s
who can stop him, but they’re being hunted for a murder they didn’t commit.
Days before the election they have to find the evidence to prove their
innocence and prove the candidate guilty of treason.
